15 August 2000 - consecrated by his holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Zakka Iwas in an impressive celebration, St. Mary's Monastery is located on the main road between al-Hasseke , Tel Tamer and Aleppo. It is in Tel Wardiat, 24 km from al-Hasseke and 95 km from al-Qamishly. It is 326 m above sea level. The monastery is located on 63 hectares of land. On its eastern side there is agricultural land. To the west is the village of Tel Wardiat. To the north is the main Aleppo--al-Hasseke road, and to the south is an irrigation canal from the Khabbur River .
